Parish Lenten Mission 2025

The theme is Jubilee! Hope for New Life. 2025 has been declared by Pope Francis as a jubilee year of Hope. Lent is a pilgrimage through the great mystery of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. It is a season of conversion from the old self to new life in Jesus.  It is our pilgrimage. Together, let us be renewed at this mission of Hope for New Life.

⏰ Time: 7:00 pm (Doors open at 6:30 PM)

2024 Results & 2025 Budget
In the link below you will find financial results for the year ended December 31, 2024.
Thanks to contributions from the Parishioners, and prudent spending to end the year, we are pleased to report that we ended with a modest surplus in 2024.
Conversely, our 2025 Budget is projecting a deficit despite many difficult decisions and a sharp pencil during the budget process. This shortfall is predominantly due to lower interest rates. Our funds on deposit with the Diocese provides us with a variable interest. As the Bank of Canada lowers rates, the interest HTP receives is also lowered. Currently we are utilizing 100% of this interest to fund operations.
Our 2025 Budget includes an increase in collections from Parishioners of approximately 2.9%. Should we realize an increase of 4.9% (in collections over 2024 totals) in 2025, we would project a balanced budget!
Please continue to give what you can; a little more from many will certainly help.

Turn Debt into Hope: A Call for Justice in the Jubilee Year
This Jubilee Year 2025, Pope Francis invites us to be “Pilgrims of Hope” by supporting the global “Turn Debt into Hope” campaign. More than 100 countries in the Global South are trapped in a debt crisis, spending more on repaying debt than on vital services like health and education. Pope Francis urges wealthier nations to forgive these unsustainable debts as an act of justice.
Join this global movement by signing the petition to:Cancel unjust and unsustainable debtsReform the global financial systemEstablish a comprehensive debt framework within the United Nations
Sign the petition after mass this weekend or online at devp.org/debt Let’s make this gesture a powerful action in the Jubilee year!

New Protocol for Reading Names in Prayers of the Faithful March 2025
As you may have noticed, our list of names of the sick read out at mass has gotten quite long. Beginning March 15/16,we want to implement a new protocol. The names read at the Prayers of the Faithful are intended for those members of our parish community, or their immediate family members, who are diagnosed with a serious or life-altering illness or accident.
In our parish, we undertook a process of developing a protocol to follow in naming people in The Prayers of The Faithful. After much research and careful reflection, we have determined that the following protocol will apply:

Peoples’ names will only be added if requested by a family member or a friend who has the explicit consent of the sick person.
When the parish receives a call regarding a serious illness or accident, the person’s name will be added to The Prayers of The Faithful for three weeks (or for the length of time requested if it is less than three weeks)

After the initial three weeks, the name will be placed on a rotating list and remain there for as long as prayer is requested.

The parish must be informed if the condition of their loved one deteriorates, for example, if their condition is rapidly declining or they are in palliative care, so that, if desired, their name can be placed back on the weekly schedule.

It is important to note that the name of the person in need of prayer will also be given to the Parish Intercessory Prayer Group, and they will be prayed for as long as prayer is requested.
At times like this, parish members can also be a great source of strength to the family and friends of the person going through this journey.  Knowing that members of their Christian Community are praying often gives them the strength and the grace to accept what the future holds.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
