HTP Connection July 3, 2026

Welcome to the HTP Connection for Holy Trinity Parish, our Weekly News Bulletin. Arriving in your email inbox every Thursday morning, it will be your connection to important events and information from HTP!

Dear Parish family,
I am writing this on Canada Day. May God truly keep our land glorious and free. This marks three years now that I have been your Pastor, and the beginning of my fourth year in this assignment. My, how time flies. I have a lot to be grateful for concerning the past three years. I am even more grateful, however, for the opportunities and plans for the years to come. God is on the move. With the growth we are experiencing, the programs we hope to continue or initiate, as well as the planning for important renovations to the building, these next few years are very important, even critical, for positioning ourselves for spiritual flourishing in the foreseeable future. Come, Holy Spirit!

I have a few points of interest to bring to your attention:

Firstly, I am leaving for summer vacation on July 3rd. I will be traveling to Kitchener to visit my family for two weeks. Then, after returning and preaching at the weekend Masses on July 18/19, I will be going with my brother, Matt, and his wife, Kate, to Cape Breton and P.E.I. For one week. I will be back in the office on Tuesday, July 28. I am looking forward to some fun, rest, and adventure. I pray you will also find some time this summer to enjoy family and nature.

On July 7, Fr. Lawrence Hyginus will be beginning his ministry assignment with us at Holy Trinity. I know you will appreciate his love for the Lord and the Holy Mass, as well as his teaching charism and his dry sense of humor. Fr. Michael and I are eager to work alongside him. Please keep Fr. Lawrence in your prayers as he settles in.

There are renovations at the priest’s house this summer, probably while I am away. The upstairs bathroom has black mould, and the kitchen sink has a bad leak, which is rotting out the cabinetry underneath. So, the Archdiocese and the parish Building committee have approved the budget and contract for the repair work, as well as the necessary updates to these two rooms. The renovations will probably take about two weeks to complete, if all goes well. This will also increase the house’s value as a parish asset. Please keep Fr. Michael and Fr. Lawrence in your thoughts and prayers as the house gets turned upside down for a time.

Finally, our front desk receptionist, Dorris, has had to take sick leave from her job, and it is uncertain at present where this will lead. For the time being, we are getting temporary help to work with Shelley. Please keep Dorris in your prayers as she embarks on this journey of healing. Hopefully, we will know more in late summer.

 Blessings and prayers,

 Fr. Tim

HTP Connection Summer Schedule
A reminder that this will be the last weekly HTP Connection for the summer due to less ministry activity during the summer months. We will send out another one on Thursday, August 6th, and then resume weekly starting Aug 27. If you have any questions, please contact Ryan by emailing communications@holytrinityns.ca

IGNITE Worship Nights: Help Make it Possible
This past year, Fr Michael initiated the Ignite Worship Nights. Together, we worship Jesus with music and praise and hear a short testimony each night. These events need help to keep running and hopefully to expand – we want to give people more opportunities to worship Jesus! To do this, we need people to serve in many roles, such as communicating to advertise the events and coordinate them, greeting people at the door, helping lead worship and prayers, setting up the building, and praying with the team of volunteers before the night begins.  If you love worshiping Jesus and want to help make that more possible at Holy Trinity Parish, Click Here to fill in a form indicating your name and email and how you might like to serve. Thank you!

The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
The Catholic Women’s League (CWL) invites you to come with your family and friends to the Mass on the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, on Thursday, July 16, at 9 am at Holy Trinity Parish. After which the faithful will have the opportunity to be invested in THE BROWN SCAPULAR – the mantle of Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Please join us in praying the novena, which starts on Tuesday, July 7th. Find more information about the Brown Scapular by Clicking Here.

Outdoor Mass for the Faithful Departed
The Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth will be hosting a Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Sackville Drive, here in Lr. Sackville. The Mass will take place on Wednesday, August 19, at 7:00 pm. This will give people the opportunity to remember their loved ones buried there. Please bring your own chair, and in the event of rain, the Mass will be moved to Holy Trinity Parish. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Christine Spears at cspears@halifaxyarmouth.org

Pray for Steubenville
The youths in our parish are the future of our church. This month, 31 of our youth from Holy Trinity Parish will be attending the Atlantic Steubenville conference, where many previous attendees have credited Steubenville as the catalyst for their conversion and desire to give their lives to Christ. We are asking our parishioners to pray for the Youths attending the conference, especially the ones from our parish. If you are interested in supporting this ministry, you can donate directly to Steubenville by Clicking Here.

NET Mission Discernment Event
Do you know someone who might be interested in a year of mission? Catholics ages 16-30 are invited to join an upcoming Virtual NET Mission Discernment Event: Saturday, July 4th, from 4-5:15 pm over Zoom! This event gives a glimpse into what a transformative year of mission on NET could look like! We want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to discern a year of mission work. Sign up by Clicking Here. Will you help us find the next generation of evangelists?
