The way we are doing church has changed drastically but our mission hasn’t change. Pope Francis says being missional is not something we put on time to time it is at our very identity of being Christian. “I am a mission on this earth”. During this pandemic, now is the time to lean into our faith. The Gospel today talks to the heart of our faith, the resurrection and the life. The heart of the Gospel is Gods merciful love extended to us as sinners. It is the ultimate cure and the ultimate answer to our difficulties and our sufferings. There is a wonderful encounter between Jesus and Martha in the Gospel today. Martha says, “Lord if you had been here my brother would not have died.” She has great faith in Jesus, and she believes in the resurrection. But Jesus calls her to go even deeper in her faith. He says, “I am the resurrection and the life….do you believe this?” She replies “Yes Lord I believe” . Can we meet Jesus in that very personal space and allow Him to ask us, do you believe that my resurrection is the ultimate cure to everything going on in this world? Like Martha we need to have great confidence and trust in Jesus. With confidence in Jesus we are called to share our faith. Will you share your faith with others? Pope Francis speaks of the resurrection saying, “All who evangelize are instruments of that power”. We can say to others that our faith in the resurrection is the ultimate cure. Remember the Holy Spirit is active in this time. As Fr. Bryan said last week, “The Holy Spirit is not Quarantined”. As Spirit filled evangelizers, we invite others to Jesus Christ as we make and equip disciples who joyfully go and invite others to Jesus.
