HTP Connection – May 8, 2024

We are Hiring

Last fall we advertised for an Operations/Communications person to fill gaps in the parish needs created by staff moving to other roles. We were unsuccessful at finding the right candidate, so after some prayer and discernment, we have decided to split the roles and create two part time positions; Operations and Communications. The Job Postings are on our website, and are available by clicking the link HERE. If you have a desire to apply to one of these roles, or know someone who does, please pass this information along. The contact information is in the Job Postings.

Steubenville Atlantic Fundraising

We extend a massive thank you to everyone who attended the Steubenville Spaghetti Dinner last Saturday. Thanks to your generous support, we raised approximately $1500! Special appreciation goes to the Knights of Columbus for their provision and preparation of all the delicious food. Don’t forget to grab a Pledge Drive Envelope from the Foyer during Mass this weekend to contribute to sending 30 teens to Steubenville this year! These envelopes will be available until the end of the month, and you can return your donations in these envelopes during the Sunday Collections. More information can be found at https://steubenville.metanoiaym.ca/fundraisers

Grief Support

Our grief support group meets monthly. This month’s meeting is on Wednesday, May 15, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in Room 9. Anyone from the community is welcome to come. If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a loved one, we invite you to spend some time with us and with others who also share this experience.

CWL News

Applications are now available for the annual CWL Bursary in the amount of $500, to be awarded to a 2024 high school (or home school) graduate who will be attending a post secondary institution in the fall of 2024. Applicants must be members of Holy Trinity Parish to be considered for this bursary.  Deadline for applying is May 31, 2024.  Bursary applications may be obtained by emailing stjvcwl101@gmail.com.
The CWL is pleased to once again sponsor the Birthright Campaign on the weekends of May 11/12 and 18/19. Birthright is an organization dedicated to providing love, friendship, and support to women who are dealing with the challenges of unplanned pregnancy. A cradle will be available in the church foyer for donations of baby items which will in turn be delivered to  Birthright Halifax. There are also envelopes available if you wish to make a financial contribution to Birthright. Envelopes may be placed in the locked black box beside the office door. We are grateful to all who continue to support this worthwhile campaign.

Spare Change for Open Door

Open Door Centre Halifax depends on the funding at this time of year to offer free services to local vulnerable youth. Please consider supporting the Open Door Centre by picking up a baby bottle in the foyer after mass this weekend and filling it with spare change. There will be a basket in the foyer to collect the returned bottles. All bottles need to be returned by Father’s Day, June 16.

Join Us for a Charcuterie Night to Support Holy Cross Chaplaincy!

Holy Cross Chaplaincy, commissioned by the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth, is dedicated to caring for the needs of Catholic young adults in our community. We are actively engaged with three local universities, providing hospitality, spiritual care, and sacraments on campus. Additionally, we offer off-campus programming focused on spiritual formation and growth for students. Finally, we collaborate with the vocations office to run a household program, accommodating 15 young people who seek deeper engagement in community, prayer, and sacramental life.
We invite you to join us for a charcuterie night on May 30 at 6:00 p.m. This event serves to spread awareness of our work and to raise funds for this year’s operations. Your support will enable us to continue nurturing and empowering young adults in their faith journey. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our community’s youth.

Date: May 30
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: HTP

For more information and to RSVP, please contact Margaret@hcchaplaincy.ca.
