Parish Change Makers by Fr. Tim

In preparation for our June 20th event, we continue to honour fellow parishioners who, as committed volunteers, are change makers in our faith community. This week we acknowledge Stephen Melanson.
Stephen has been so important in all things ‘livestream’ at our parish. He has been busy training many of our volunteers, ordering and setting up equipment, and giving freely of so much of his time. His talent bank and a long professional career with television has him bringing a lot to the table regarding “Lights … Camera … ACTION!” Stephen is also a man of deep faith in Jesus, who wants to see us increasingly using arts and media to spread the Gospel. Stephen’s service among us is behind the scenes, and often unnoticed by many. I believe he prefers it this way. However, on this occasion, let us offer up a prayer of thanksgiving for his change making service in getting our Parish Liturgies and messages online and into the hearts of others.

Eucharistic Congress

The Weekend of June 1/2 is the Feast of the Body and Blood of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in the Eucharist. In our Archdiocese, this October 18-20, we will be having a special event called a Eucharistic Congress. It is to accompany the International Eucharistic Congress this upcoming September in Ecuador. In anticipation and preparation for this special event, we will take certain initiatives at HTP. One such initiative will happen on June 1/2.

  • Adoration: After the 4:30 p.m. Mass on June 1, we will have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church until 10:00 p.m. for those who would like to spend some quiet prayer and reflection before Our Lord. Please come for as little or as long a time as you like. There will also be additional time for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church on June 2, between the 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Masses until 11:00 a.m. This provides a wonderful opportunity for us to spend some time on this Feast Day to bend the knee before our Lord and Saviour, and to give him thanks for being so very close to us, this side of Heaven, in the Blessed Sacrament.
  • Outdoor Procession: After the 11:15 a.m. Mass on June 2, we will have what is called a Eucharistic Procession. This is a chance for us to walk outside (weather permitting) with the Blessed Sacrament as a public display of our faith and adoration of Jesus. We will go outside the church doors to Beaverbank; we will turn right onto Sackville Drive; then we will turn right onto the paved footpath; then we will turn right onto Judy Street until we reach Beaverbank Road, at which point we will turn right and head back to our Church. During the Procession, you are invited to join in with the Priests, Deacons and Altar Servers. If you are mobility challenged, feel free to remain in the church and pray for us as we go out, that our public witness will bear fruit within those who see us.

Please note: we will be using incense for the procession and Benediction.
The incense is hypoallergenic, but if you have concerns about intolerances,
you may wish to exit the church at the end of the announcements.

As the Hymn proclaims:
O Sacrament Most Holy
O Sacrament Divine
All Praise and all thanksgiving
Be every moment Thine!

They are actively engaged with three local universities, providing hospitality, spiritual care, and sacraments on campus. We invite you to join us for one of our Charcuterie Nights, running in parishes throughout the months of May and June. These events serve to spread awareness of our work and to raise funds for this year’s operations. Your support will enable us to continue nurturing and empowering young adults in their faith journey.
