HTP Connection – May 22, 2024

Eucharistic Congress

The Weekend of June 1/2 is the Feast of the Body and Blood of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in the Eucharist. In our Archdiocese, this October 18-20, we will be having a special event called the Eucharistic Congress. It is to accompany the International Eucharistic Congress this upcoming September in Ecuador. In anticipation and preparation for this special event, we will take certain initiatives at HTP. One such initiative will happen on June 1/2.

  • Adoration: After the 4:30 p.m. Mass on June 1, we will have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church until 10:00 p.m. for those who would like to spend some quiet prayer and reflection before Our Lord. Please come for as little or as long a time as you like. There will also be additional time for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church on June 2, between the 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Masses until 11:00 a.m. This provides a wonderful opportunity for us to spend some time on this Feast Day to bend the knee before our Lord and Saviour, and to give him thanks for being so very close to us, this side of Heaven, in the Blessed Sacrament.
  • Outdoor Procession: After the 11:15 a.m. Mass on June 2, we will have what is called a Eucharistic Procession. This is a chance for us to walk outside (weather permitting) with the Blessed Sacrament as a public display of our faith and adoration of Jesus. We will go outside the church doors to Beaverbank; we will turn right onto Sackville Drive; then we will turn right onto the Evangeline Trail; then we will turn right onto Judy Street until we reach Beaverbank Road, at which point we will turn right and head back to our Church. During the Procession, you are invited to join in with the Priests, Deacons and Altar Servers. If you are mobility challenged, feel free to remain in the church and pray for us as we go out, that our public witness will bear fruit within those who see us.

As the Hymn proclaims:
O Sacrament Most Holy
O Sacrament Divine
All Praise and all thanksgiving
Be every moment Thine!

Welcome Deacon Tim Silver CC

We are pleased to announce to you that Deacon Tim Silver, a Companion of the Cross from North Bay Ontario, will be moving to the Holy Trinity Parish rectory from now until the end of July. He will be ministering among us in order to get some parish experience before entering into his final year of theological studies. He and three other Companions of the Cross members, will be ordained to the Priesthood next May. It will be a blessing for us to have Deacon Tim in our parish community, even if just for a short while. Be sure to pray for him, and if you have the opportunity, introduce yourself to him after Mass. With both Deacon Tim and Father Tim, it will be like having a Timmy’s double double in our midst.

Change Makers Event

Are you someone who has shared your time and talents to make Holy Trinity Parish the fruitful parish it is? If so, we would like to celebrate YOU at our “Celebrating Change Makers Event” This is open to all volunteers of our parish in all ministries who are serving to make a difference! Parish Change Makers by Fr. Tim

For the next four HTP Connections, I will be showcasing different parishioners from among the many who give of their time and talents to make our parish life fruitful. This is a lead up to our event on June 20 when all our volunteers who serve will be celebrated. These volunteers are the real Change Makers in our parish, using their gifts to build up the Kingdom of God.

This week I would like to acknowledge Cam and Angela Beare for their impactful involvement. They have only been here for four years, and sadly, they will be moving to Ottawa in July. So, I wanted to make sure that we take a moment to appreciate them before they take their leave from our community.

Cam is a CCO missionary. Angela is a sports dietitian and a stay at home Mom. They have five energetic children; Benjamin, Hannah, Miriam, Eva and Joshua. Cam and Angela have been involved on the Baptism Preparation Team, helping young families prepare for the Sacrament of Baptism for their children.
Cam has been a member of the Parish Council, and Angela has helped at times with the music ministry with her violin. The whole family has been very participative at parish events and programs such as Ignite and Vacation bible camp. They have been a very hospitable, generous and joyful presence At Holy Trinity. They will be greatly missed when they leave, but their involvement and support over the past four years is a wonderful example for us to follow. May God bless them richly for being among the many change makers of our parish.
