No Options, No Choice

Last Sunday Fr Yves spoke about the (MAiD) Medical Assistance in Dying.  MAiD  causes death in two ways. One way is assisted suicide when the patient themselves take lethal drugs prescribed to them. Only 1% of MAiD victims choose this way. The second way is Euthanasia, when a physician administers the lethal drugs to the patient, 99% of MAiD victims choose this method. It is shocking to see how Canada is outpacing other countries in making MAiD available as a treatment option.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of NS passed a new policy on May 24th which requires doctors to participate in euthanasia and other controversial procedures by providing an effective referral in terms of a treatment option. Already there are 41 doctors who have signed a letter stating that they cannot abide by this new policy and some will be retiring early and others leaving Nova Scotia. We cannot afford to lose these good doctors. Please take a moment to read the attached letter. These letters are available to be signed in the church foyer, or you can sign online by clicking HERE.
