Explore Pope Leo’s XIV’s First Encyclical with us this Fall!
Pope Leo XIV recently published his first encyclical, a primary teaching document for the Church, calling it Magnifica Humanitas, or ‘Humanity in its Grandeur’. In this encyclical, the Holy Father calls all the faithful to a deeper understanding of what it means to be human in the digital age and of the challenges modern technologies pose to the magnificence God created in each of us. Over 5 evenings this Fall, we’ll be reading and unpacking this important teaching document of the Church in a simple, straightforward way to better understand the Holy Father’s message.
Please contact Alex Craven at faithformation@holytrinityns.ca if you’d like more information, and if you are interested in attending this course, please complete this registration form so we can plan for you to join us. Sessions run from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at St. John Vianney church on the following dates:
- Mon Sept 28
- Mon Oct 5
- Mon Oct 19
- Mon Oct 26
- Mon Nov 2
When registering, please let us know if you are interested in purchasing a hard copy of the book through the parish. Parish orders available only until Sept 4th. Alternatively, you can order your own copy in advance at this link or use a free version by downloading the PDF version from the Vatican website HERE.
Children’s Liturgy Volunteers Needed!
Beginning at the end of September, we’re looking for volunteers to help with Children’s Liturgy during the 11:15 AM Sunday Mass for children ages 4–10. It’s a wonderful opportunity to help children learn about Jesus and the Church while building friendships and community.
Interested in volunteering? Contact office@holytrinityns.ca for more information!
Coats for Kids Collection – Aug. 29 and Aug. 30
Knights of Columbus are having their Coats for Kids fundraiser again this year before and after each Mass this weekend (August 29/30). This year, the need for Winter Coats is greater than it was last year, and this year we are fundraising in hopes of purchasing 200 Winter Coats for Kids. Last year we gave out almost 200 winter coats, hats, and Mittens to our local community thanks to our Holy Trinity Parish Parishioners. The Knights of Columbus buy thousands of coats across Canada and are able to get awesome Winter Coats for $20.00 each; any donation is greatly appreciated. Your Continued Support for our Coats for Kids program is amazing.

Faith Formation for the 2026-2027 School Year: Registration now OPEN!
We’re excited to announce the launch of our Faith Formation Programming for this coming school year. You can find breakdowns of each offered program by going to our Children, Youth, and Families page of our website and exploring the options available!
As the year gets underway, we invite all our families with children to register with us using this form so we can keep you in the loop about upcoming events and opportunities for our youth and families throughout the year!
Please register each child individually to give us an accurate understanding of the number and needs of the youth in our parish!
For those youth who will be seeking their First Reconciliation, First Communion, and/or Confirmation during this 2026-2027 year, we ask for your registration (via the form linked above) into our Sacramental Prep or Confirmation Programs as appropriate to your child. Please see below for details on each program, and check the website for schedules as well. Registration for these programs must be completed by September 23rd if you intend for your child to celebrate the sacraments during this 2026-2027 ministry year!
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
for First Reconciliation and First Communion (for children Grade 2/Age 7 and up). Preparation for these sacraments deepens our faith through understanding the saving power of Christ’s sacrifice for us, and how God’s grace comes to us in Confession and the Mass. Sessions run bi-weekly on Sunday mornings, with parents & youth attending together. Children must be age 7 by December 1 to register for this program. Upon registering for Sacramental Preparation families MUST (1) provide the Baptismal Record for their child and (2) contact Alex to go over some program-related specifics! Registration for this preparation program is not completed until these two requirements are fulfilled!
CONFIRMATION
(for teens Grade 9 and 10). In Confirmation, our youth prepare to give a full hearted Yes to Christ, committing to a lifelong relationship with the Lord empowered by the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. Upon registering for this program families MUST (1) provide the Baptismal Record for their child and (2) contact Alex to go over some program-related specifics! Registration for this preparation program is not completed until these two requirements are fulfilled! Confirmation youth and parents also should plan to have an interview/conversation with Alex in advance of the program’s start! Sessions fall bi-weekly on Sunday afternoons. **Note that our Schedule for Confirmation is still being finalized. We are awaiting confirmation from the Archdiocese as to when the Archbishop will be available for our Confirmation Mass. The schedule currently has two placeholder weekends but will be updated when we have more info from the Archbishop’s office! Details about this will be provided at the Parent’s Meeting in early October**
We ask for a donation of $40 per registration to help us offset the costs of supplies and resources used throughout the year. However, money is never a roadblock for youth to participate in our faith formation programs, and if the expense is not workable for your family budget, please let us know:
If you have any questions, concerns, or need more information, please contact Alex Craven at faithformation@holytrinityns.ca.
