Alpha Registration is Open

At Mass this coming weekend we will hear a wonderful witness from a past Alpha participant sharing about their life changing experience. Our next Alpha course begins Thursday, September 21st. Registration and more information can be found on our website. There will be Alpha team members in the foyer after Mass this upcoming weekend and they’d love to answer any questions you might have or get you or your guests signed up!

CC Feast Day

On September 14th, we celebrate the feast day of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, also known as the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross. Come join us for a special mass where all the Companions of the Cross and the Lay Associates will gather to celebrate together. The Mass will be at 7pm at Holy Trinity Parish (4 Beaver Bank Road). All are welcome! Reception to follow.

Back To School Prayer

Lord, please bless all our teachers, friends and relatives as they make their way back to their classrooms for another year. Help them to feel excitement and joy in the promise of a new start. Please help them with everything they need to start their classes and with all they need throughout the year. Amen.

A Note From Our Pastor

Dear Parish Family,

It is a special time of year as we shift from summer mode into the Fall routine.  It is almost like New year’s Day in the sense that the Parish activities, programs and ministries mimic the school year from September to June.

I had a wonderful summer vacation in Kitchener with my family, and a fulfilling time with the Companions of the Cross.  I had lots of BBQ meals, corn on the cob, watermelon and chips.  It will definitely take some time to get back to full speed.  I am sure many of you can relate.  Regarding recovery from my shoulder injury, all is going well, and I should be quite healed up in a month or so.  Thank you for your prayers.  On a different note, I would be remiss if I did not express special blessings and best wishes to all students beginning a new year this week.

Joining Fr. Yves and myself this year will be one of our Companions of the Cross Seminarians.  His name is Manas.  He will be with us until June 30.  It is good to have him with us as he continues to discern his call to the Priesthood.  After this year, he will have about two more years of study before being ordained as a priest.   You might remember when Fr. Bryan spent 2011/2012 here at the parish as a seminarian, then he went back to Detroit and was ordained in 2014.  Please keep Manas in your prayers, and take some time this year to introduce yourself to him if you have the chance.

This is the time of year to pay extra attention to the announcements and website information.  With Alpha, youth events, Sacramental preparation, parish ministry meetings etc, there are a lot of things to notice.  My hope is that each of you will get involved in our parish life in one way or another, and to make sure that others around you are in the loop as well.  I pray that our parish will continue to become a place of renewal as we become explosively alive in the Holy Spirit; strengthened in community; transforming the world for Jesus.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Tim
