Changes to our Pastoral Team

Our pastor, Fr. Bryan, is being re-assigned to a new role within his community, the Companions of the Cross, as Director of Ongoing Formation. Fr. Bryan has been with us since July 1, 2017, as Associate Pastor, Administrator, and Pastor. There will be a reception after each of the Masses on the weekend of June 24/25, the final weekend Fr. Bryan will be our pastor. He will remain with us an additional week however to help the new pastor transition in.

Our new pastor, Fr. Tim Devine, CC, comes to us from Saint Maurice parish in Ottawa, where he has pastored for the past 12 years. He spent time previously in our Archdiocese at St. Paul’s in Herring Cove and St. Peter’s in Ketch Harbour (both now closed) and St. Thomas Aquinas (now part of Good Shepherd Parish). There will be a reception after each of the Masses on the weekend of July 1/2, the first weekend Fr. Tim will be our new pastor.
Please pray for Fr. Bryan as he prepares to transition into his new role with the Companions of the Cross in Ottawa, and for Fr. Tim as he prepares to become our pastor here at Holy Trinity Parish.

Social Distancing Section Update

Thank you to all who attended the meeting on Apr 23rd and/or contributed ideas via email. On May 6, the current “social distancing” section will be changing to a “masking only” section. This means that all the pews in the worship area will now be available for seating. However, we are asking that those who choose to sit in this designated area wear a mask. With a change of this nature comes some uncertainty as to the exact number of pews needed for this purpose, and so we will monitor the usage and adjust the size of the designated space to best fit any future situation.

First Communion

This coming Sunday, May 7 at the 9am mass, we are excited to welcome the families and friends of the children of Holy Trinity receiving their First Communion. Pews will be reserved for the families of these children as we make room for our guests at this mass.

Spaghetti Dinner

Our teens who are attending the Steubenville Conference this summer are hosting a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser with the Knights of Columbus on May 13 from 5:30-7:00 in the Parish hall. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children and will be on sale this weekend after all Masses. If you want to learn more about what the Steubenville High School conference is, email youth@holytrinityns.ca

News from the office of the Archdiocese:

  • The priests of Halifax-Yarmouth will be on retreat from May 8-12. Please keep them in your prayers. There will be no change to our regular weekday mass schedule at Holy Trinity Parish.
  • The Archdiocese is in the process of seeking permission from Rome to change the patronal feast of the Archdiocese from the Feast of the Assumption (August 15) to the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary (December 8).  This change is recommended because August 15 is a special day for the Acadians and they are involved in other festivities.  As well December 8 is the date of the establishment of the new merged Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth.  The clergy have agreed with this change and this announcement is a way to consult all parishioners to see if you have any comments on this change.  Please respond to Pauline (pamirault@halifaxyarmouth.org) by Monday, May 15
  • The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) warmly invites the Catholic faithful to celebrate National Family and Life Week 2023 (NFLW), which will take place between May7 – May 14. The theme chosen for this year is Jesus’ words, “Love one another. Just as I have loved you, love one another” (John 13:34) The NS March for Life will be held Saturday, May 20.
