Dear Parish Family,
Here we are in a new year, 2024. I have been through a lot of transitions, challenges and changes in 2023, so I must admit that I am looking forward to more stability of sorts for this new year. I pray that whatever comes our way, we will ultimately be focused on discovering and living out God’s Holy Will for us. With God’s Grace and with each other to lean on, ‘we will weather the weather, no matter the weather, whatever the weather may be.” (Say that five times fast.)
I just wanted to give a couple of updates for your information. I will be leaving for Kitchener today to visit my family for a few days. I am delighted that I will be home for my Mom’s birthday on January 11. Then, from Monday, January 15 – 19, all of the Companions of the Cross members will be in Detroit for some study days which we attend every two years. During that week, there will be two Masses only at 9:00am Tuesday, January 16 and 9:00am Wednesday, January 17. There will not be Masses at the parish on Thursday, January 18 and Friday January 19th. Everything will resume on Saturday, January 20. During the week, the priests will be learning about the Encounter healing ministry. I am looking forward to learning more about this recent move of God in our part of the globe.
On a personal note, I have received funds to purchase a braille note plus, which is a great tool for the blind and visually impaired. It is like an IPad with braille display. I am hoping to use it for many daily tasks like scheduling, contact lists etc. I am also hoping to use it for slide presentations, notes for homilies and talks, and so on. The CWL and the Knights of Columbus generously added to what the City of Halifax donated in order to complete the purchase. I am very grateful to them for making this possible.
Finally, I pray that as we journey throughout this new year, we will keep our hearts and minds open to God’s loving voice of truth, and that we all discover new levels of Holy Inspiration as how to best live out our individual calling as missionary disciples.
Sincerely in Christ,
