Children & Youth

Holy Trinity Parish offers a number of programs and opportunities for our children to learn and grow in the faith! These programs range from our family-focused IGNITE program for young children and their families, the WAY for our junior high aged youth, and opportunities like Steubenville Atlantic Youth Conference and launching in September, 2022, Metanoia Youth Ministry for high school teens.

For those hoping to do sacramental formation in the next few years for Reconciliation, First Communion, or Confirmation, please note that our parish asks for involvement in our faith formation programs for at least 1 year prior to beginning your Sacramental Formation!

Participation in IGNITE, the WAY, or our Sacramental Prep and Confirmation Prep programs requires pre-registration. Please contact Alex at faithformation@holytrinityns.ca in order to register!

Programs

IGNITE – Our offering for children Grades 1-5 celebrates that our first Church community is the family! IGNITE gathers the whole family together to learn and share faith side by side with parents, children, and siblings. We will explore and examine the fundamentals of faith through exciting experiences, discussions, games, music, drama, and art throughout the faith sharing experience. Schedules for IGNITE can be accessed (viewed or downloaded) below:

THE WAY – Our offering for our youth Grades 6-8 is ‘The WAY.’ The WAY invites youth to form a deeper friendship with Christ and to respond to Christ’s call to ‘Come follow me!’ in their lives. Through a mix of games, videos, music, discussion, faith sharing, and other activities, we are excited to help our young people take personal ownership of their faith as they continue to grow in the knowledge of just how deeply they are loved by God!

For more information about any or all of these opportunities, or to find out how to get involved, please contact our Faith Formation Coordinator, Alex Craven at faithformation@holytrinityns.ca.

Sacraments

Our Parish is excited to celebrate the Sacraments with the youth of our community! These visible and tangible signs of God’s love for His people enliven the faith of those who receive them and the faith of the community who bears witness. Additionally, because the sacraments have a unique connection with God and the community, candidates for receiving these sacraments must have participated in age-appropriate faith formation programming for at least one year immediately prior to applying for sacramental preparation.

If you have questions or would like more information, please contact Alex at faithformation@holytrinityns.ca

We are happy to offer preparation for the following sacraments to the youth of our parish:

Youth aged 7 and up (Grade 2+) may request preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion.

Youth aged 13 and up (Grade 9+) may request preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Persons aged 17 and up and wishing to prepare for and receive the sacraments are candidates for our parish’s Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) program and should contact the parish office at office@holytrinityns.ca for more information.
